When people told me that Idaho was
going to be cold, I thought they meant the weather. Utah, where I come from, is
fairly cold, but the people are warm. The people are happy and they smile when
you pass them on the street. People hold the elevator for you. They open doors
for each other. They are just warm people. I’ve lived in the same part of Utah
my whole life. I have always been welcomed because I am “normal”; a straight,
white, female. I know my place in Utah. College in Idaho is different, very
different.
In Idaho, people don’t smile when
you walk past each other on the street. They pull out their phone, put headphones
in, or look down, anything to avoid talking to some weird freshman who has
their head way too high in the clouds. Maybe I did go into this experience with
high hopes. I was gonna be that freshman that had a lot of friends. I was gonna
be the one that everyone wanted. I didn’t want to be cool, I wanted to be nice.
I wanted people to like me because I was nice. I don’t even get a chance
It's definitely not what I thought it was gonna be, but that is okay! It doesn't have to be perfect. It's life, nothing is really truly perfect. We live off of imperfections. Starting this blog for people like me, stressed and depressed. Hope you follow me along this journey of being an adult. Yep ahhh here we go. Good luck.
